About Solotimize
A one-person web systems business since 2002 — and what that has to do with the tools recommended here.
Solotimize exists for one kind of reader: the person who runs an entire business alone, and who would rather buy back an hour than add another item to a to-do list.
Who writes this
I’m Atsushi Shibata. I’ve been building web systems for small and mid-sized companies since 2002 — twenty-four years, all of it as a one-person business, based in Japan.
That length of time is the reason this site exists. I’ve watched a lot of tools promise leverage and then quietly cost more time than they saved. What actually changed things for me was narrower than the marketing suggests: moving the repetitive, rule-based parts of client work off my desk. I now run five client projects in parallel by myself, with automation and AI — Claude, Gemini, and ChatGPT are in my daily stack — doing the work that used to require a second person.
Solotimize is the running record of that. Not tool tours — what held up during a week when three clients needed something at once, and what I stopped using.
What we publish
- Tool reviews and comparisons — judged against one standard: can one person set it up, keep it running, and afford it?
- Workflow guides — step-by-step builds you can copy in an afternoon.
- Honest labels. We always tell you whether a recommendation comes from a tool in my own daily stack or from research. Both are useful; pretending the second is the first is not.
What we don’t do
- We don’t accept payment for a positive review, or for a placement in a ranking.
- We don’t publish sponsored posts dressed up as editorial.
- We don’t claim hands-on experience we don’t have.
Solotimize earns money through affiliate commissions. How that works, and the line it never crosses, is spelled out in our affiliate disclosure. How recommendations are made is documented in our editorial methodology.
